Noted Sci-Fi author, Harlan Ellison, has passed away in his sleep. He was 84.
Rest well, Ticktock Man.

As a writer, I need to work usually late at night when everyone else is asleep, but Ellison took pride in writing in public. I don't think I could pull that off.

I didn't know that. Figures with Sinatra, though. James Elroy, who despises the memory of Sinatra, has used him as a character in his fiction.

Sinatra, at some nightclub whose name escapes me, in 1966, spotted Ellison and said to him, "I don't like the boots you're wearing." Harlan retorted, "I hate to break it to you, but I dress to please myself and myself ONLY." then ol' blue eyes got his fists up and they had to be separated. I take pleasure from reading accounts of various people knocking that stuffed shirt singer flat on his tuckas on many occasions, most notably by drummer gene krupa.
