[sarcasm=mine]

As long as someone is convicted of the crime, who cares who actually pulled the trigger?

[/sarcasm]

Did you read the article? The shooter was 4, the cousin 2.

I hold the grandfather guilty for leaving a deadly object accessible to two innocent children. Oh and they also charged him for being a felon in possession.

Yeah, I read the article, and I have to ask "WHERE THE HELL WERE THE PARENTS? I mean, the parents should also be held accountable for allowing the grandfather to even have a gun around children! Arrest them, too!

The grandfather was 53 dude. That is not an elderly. Unless the person was disabled and incompetent, then the parents would be accountable for leaving their child with someone who is not able to watch the kids. My parents are a lot older than him and they can still watch my kids. They don't have any brain tumors or dementia or Alzhiemer's and never had a stroke either. My dad's parents was still watching us grandkids in their 70's and they had none of the above either.

I don't ever leave my kids with my inlaws long because they are not able to take care of them as my parents. My MIL can barely move and my FIL had a stroke.

So not all "elderlies" are unable to watch kids.

They shouldn't have to, either. They've already taken care of their kids.

That is not my point. The parents should have known that there was a gun in the house -- Why didn't they?

Whenever I left my kids in someone else's care -- even if it was my own mother -- I insisted on a "walk-through" to see if there were any dropped pills, bits of broken glass, un-latched cabinets, sharp objects, or firearms within a toddler's reach ... and toddlers can reach anywhere!

Yeah, the parents are solely responsible for this tragedy. It's their job to ensure that the environment where they leave children is a safe one, and the person in charge of caring for them is responsible.
