Well, I'm not totally convinced that they were laughing at him----at least, not in the way people think. Here's the thing..... He said "so true"..... Why did he say that? It seems to me that someone said something, and that was the president's response. It seems that they were laughing, maybe, at what was said (what someone in the audience said to our president). Then, when President Trump said "so true", they applauded; so, that, to me, doesn't sound like they were against the president----people don't usually applaud something at which they're against.
The other idea that I had, was that..... When he said "Didn’t expect that reaction", it sounds like he was happy that someone agreed with him, maybe----but then he said: "but that’s okay", and, IMO, it doesn't seem like someone would have said that, if whatever an audience member said, was positive, so I dunno.
The point IS, though----and no one in the MSM is addressing this (I even checked Fox and Breitbart)----why did he say "so true". I feel that if someone would just put in a little extra effort to find-out why he said that (it seems he said it in response to something someone said), then we could know, for sure, at what they were laughing.
1) It's obvious that "so true" was Trump agreeing with himself, it's part of his M.O. It's also why, as you noted, even why right wing news isn't going with it - there's nothing to go with, it's what he always says.
2) "Didn't expect that reaction" - didn't expect people to laugh, "but that's okay" - "laugh at me, I don't care."
