Trolls can get up to 5 years prison in New South Wales
Online trolls and cyberbullies in NSW face up to five years in jail under law change
They would also provide a basis for victims of cyberbullying to apply for Apprehended Violence Orders, Mr Speakman said...
The law changes follow the high-profile death of 14-year-old schoolgirl Amy "Dolly" Everett who took her own life in January after she was tormented by relentless online bullying.
Following Dolly's death, the Everett family launched a social media campaign to raise awareness of bullying and harassment.
Her parents Tick and Kate Everett said they looked forward to talking to the government about the proposed amendments and wanted the issue to be taken seriously.
"No one should be abused or feel unsafe online," Dolly's parents said in a statement.
"We need to educate everyone about how important it is to treat each other with respect.
"Laws about respect can have an impact if they are part of broader community education, standards and behaviour change."
Domestic violence NSW chief executive Moo Baulch welcomed the changes and said up to 98 per cent of family and domestic violence victims have experienced online abuse.
"It's a devastating crime and it's also something…that follows people into their homes," Mr Baulch said.
"It can feel almost inescapable when you're being stalked, bullied and harassed online."
I hope that the law provides clearly-defined definitions for abusive emails, threatening posts, hurtful messages, hurtful pictures, hurtful videos online, and unwanted messages.
Take "Unwanted Messages", for example. Someone from NSW emails "Joe" asking for advice. Joe replies with the opinion that they need to "get up, stand up, grow up, and man up". They don't like what Joe tells them, so they go to the NSW authorities and complain about Joe's "unwanted message". The NSW authorities arrest Joe and he spends the next 5 years in prison.
Thus, Joe gets a prison term for nothing more than suggesting that someone accept responsibility for themselves, AFTER they have asked for Joe's opinion.
I hope that the NSW law doesn't allow this.

Fantasy humor aside, I completely agree with your statement. It should be carefully scrutinized in an effort to curtail greater tyranny.
Damn, I wrote on twitter last week "bruh, you don't need to diet to lose weight. Everyone just wants a easy fix to their weight. The only reason mine has stayed off is because I stopped giving into my cravings and I quit snacking so much. I never did diets to lose weight." Will I go to jail now for writing that? After all I bet fat activists will call it trolling. That message could be unwanted by them and see it as hurtful. I am glad Twitter doesn't take BS when people report posts. They just don't see any violation in their rules.

This message board also has a red button called Report to report infractions to these rules.

A very unique plan. As Dr. Paul Thompson wrote, "This is the very best paper on the virus I have ever seen."
I shudder to think of what might happen if the SJWs of Oz got ahold of anyone who posts something like: "I have a college degree, a beautiful home, a gorgeous husband, two perfect kids ... and all I had to do was work my butt off, which is also good because I now weigh only 53 kg! I can't wait to vist me mum in Canberra next week..." Some poor, overweight, undereducated slob of a woman who lives at home in the Outback and can't get a date will probably report her to the authorities, who will be waiting at the Immigrations counter with shackles and cattle-prods, and a reservation at Her Majesty's finest women's prison.

Congratulations, you won the internet.
