Carl Bernstein: Trump preparing to call midterm elections 'illegitimate' if Democrats take power

Quote:
"I talked to people ... in touch with the White House on Friday who believe that, if the congressional midterms are very close and the Democrats were to win by five or seven seats, that Trump is already talking about how to throw legal challenges into the courts, sow confusion, declare a victory actually, and say that the election's been illegitimate," Bernstein said after being asked if Trump's challenge to fraudulent voters was a form of voter suppression.

"That is really under discussion in the White House," he added.

Bernstein said Trump's dishonesty is unprecedented, adding that the United States has never had a president that "uses lying and untruth as a basic method to promote his policies, his beliefs, and his way of approaching the American people and engaging with the world."

According to the results of a NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday, the Democrats hold a 9-point lead over Republicans in the the latest polling for the 2018 midterm elections, which are only a couple of weeks away.

Likewise if the Republicans win, it will be blamed on Russian interference.

As I recall, Spanky threatened the same thing before the last presidential election (which he lost by 3 million votes, but was "elected" anyway).
One year on, Donald Trump is still an illegitimate president

As a republican not a democracy we don’t elect our president by popular vote as that would be unfair to the minority. and states. If we did only wear and east coast would matter and everyone in between would be subjects not citizens who are under the thumb of the coasts.

And yet do we want our collective fate decided by otherwise inconsequential, under populated states?

The difference is, there's actually a ton of evidence that Trump got help from Russia.

Yeah, this is what kills a democracy; people get paid in IOUs to do it.

Let me explain what happens, historically, when despotic oligarchies come to power:

The government shrivels up like a dead arachnid & restricts every possible freedom.

More like Hillary got sabotaged because they were afraid she would go ballistic and start a real war with them. And all they had to do was expose her corruption.

the constitution cannot deal with these scoundrels, but it doesn't matter because they ignore the constitution anyways whenever and wherever it doesn't suit them.

That makes them a minority. What happened to the importance of equality?

Not so much a minority as blacks or gays, but rather they don't represent vaster numbers of citizens as states on the coasts do. Plus coastal states are far more diverse and inclusive.
