I can't link, but The Atlantic has an Artie by James Fallows about an oldie but goldie - Remember how " next JFK " Gary Hart was, when he was running for President in 1988, caught sneaking around with a woman not his wife, Donna Rice on a yacht called the " Monkey Business", presumed to have cheated with her, following which his whole Prexy campaign went bye-bye? It now seems almost unthinkable, I suppose, that there was much Proper, Respectable, Media angst at the time and to whether such a thing should be reported on :o ...
Well, now it can be told!! !! !! !! ! 8) This article publically reveals for the first time that the late Republican operative Lee Atwater said before his death that he personally set up the circumstances of the yacht being delayed and the particularly picquant details of the yacht being called the " Monkey Business " and the famous picture of Rice sitting on Hart's lap...scoop it up, fact fans  :P  :D!

As I recall it, Gary Hart had openly and publicly challenged the media to find out something about his affairs. They did and the rest is history and an exercise in being careful about what you wish for.

Quote:
''Follow me around, I don't care,'' Mr. Hart said. ''I'm serious. If anybody wants to put a tail on me, go ahead. They'd be very bored.''
