I don't have to read the article to know how atrocious this act of barbarism by the Supreme Court is! I thought you guys were against the death penalty. The level barbarism along with the sheer hypocrisy is absolutely mind blowing.

And the fact that the article did not appear in The Onion PROVES that it is factual!

 ... as if ...

They should expand the ruling to include critics commenting upon music that they haven't actually listened to.

Like the guy who wrote the liner notes of a CD I have: an album of songs by Forties rhythm and blues pioneer Louis Jordan.

The guy said "Louis Jordan could get all sweet and syrupy for the ladies in songs like 'Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying'".

The cut of that title on the album is anything BUT sweet. Not only is it quite salty, but the singer even says "daddy's gone salty, you made him so". Its a cheatin song basically. Angry, and not romantic.

My guess is that the reviewer guy not only never listened to the cut on the album, but he wrongly jumped to the conclusion that the track with that title was the same song as the song recorded twenty years later by the British Invasion band "Gerry and the Pacemakers" with the same title.

The better known Sixties' "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying" IS a rather sweet-but-sad song, but its not a cover of the earlier Jordan song. They are two completely different songs.

So the guy who wrote those liner notes, maybe shouldn't be executed. but should at least be flogged, and then put into solitary ...so that the sun doesn't catch him crying!

The biggest problem in forums of course is people commenting on threads they obviously didn't read. I bet if I titled a post "I wake up with a sore throat" and then wrote about something else entirely different from the title, I would get a lot of 'I get sore throats too' replies and people telling me to gargle salt water.

On this forum one should remember when posting deliberately fake articles done for comedic or sarcastic reasons to warn users.

Other folks lack of curiosity, reading comprehension, or critical thinking skills isn't my problem.

I would not advocate putting a sarcasm warning on every forum, but this is an autism forum. Autistic people often take things very literally and miss the sarcasm. If you post something you are probably trying to make a point. Why not put in a little extra effort to make your point more understood?

Other peoples lack of employability is not your problem either but I don’t think you favor cutting them off.

Agreed. In this case, the article was so blatantly fake that it'd take a subnormal IQ to take it seriously, but this is an important rule of thumb.

Can the President sign an Executive Order, vetoing this dastardly Supreme Court ruling?

On the other hand - We don’t have the death penalty here in Canada, perhaps Canadian based violators can be extradited to the US. (I know we’ve said we won’t let people be extradited if they risk the death penalty, but commenting without reading???)

That's a thought.

Place that court jester emoticon at the end of your original post whenever you post something that is a put-on.

Just enough of a hint. :jester:

If this were a majority NT site I wouldn't worry about it, but since its an autistic site...I suppose that you do hafta accommodate the sarcasm-impaired.

Comments are supposed to be about the article?

I only comment about other people's comments. Is this wrong?

No idea what you're talking about. Nobody said that you had to comment on the article, and not on the comments.
