Oh wow...

That said I think prostitution should be legal, that would help remove the trafficking part of it. Then there would be legal and safe agencies to go through...rather than shady pimps who don't respect the rights of their 'girls'.

Personally, I don't think any form of sex-work should be illegal.

If sex-work was made legal, there would still be human trafficking and exploitation of under-age people.

Consider our current industrial culture. People are employed to perform tasks in exchange for money. Laws are enacted to ensure that people are paid fair wages, are not over-worked, and are not performing hazardous work without protection.

But employers seek ways to circumvent these laws. Illegal immigrants, including children, are employed in sweat shops and fields where little protection is provided for their health, safety, and welfare. Many are paid much less than minimum wage (if their paid at all), and some are expected to exchange sexual activity for food, clothing, shelter, and medical care. Those who try to escape are re-captured and punished (or killed) to keep them quiet.

Now imagine the same conditions in a legalized sex industry. People who can be exploited will be exploited, and those who rebel will be punished. Simple as that.

Fnord, what you are describing in relation to human trafficking and exploitation is going to persist regardless of whether prostitution is legalised or not. At the very least if there is no prohibition then there would be legal safeguards to both protect existing sex workers and police brothels who might employ or target vulnerable people.

The same argument is used against legalising drugs...

..and yet we still have employment laws, because for the most part, they work to protect workers.

Why should sex work continue to be a black market free for all? :?

As for the OP story.. of course trump defend's the guy saying he's professed his innocence so he believes him. Well, duh, he's an old rich white guy getting away with being a perv who broke the law.. naturally trump will throw his support behind him.

He broke the law knowingly and the law needs to do what it needs to do. Unless he knew that place was doing human trafficking since he is a widower I cannot judge him too harshly for this action.
