How so?

Many who are not trump supporters have observed there is no real evidence. Lot's of conjecture and innuendo but no real evidence.

But of course that has already been talked about extensively in many threads over a long period of time.

Nicely recursive, I thought. A cartoon about confirmation bias which is apparently designed to elicit confirmation bias!

Accurate? No. The metaphor is poor because in the first two examples, exposure to the damaging substance leads to immediate loss of the ability to troll anyone; whereas exposing people with polarised, dogmatic political opinions (of any shade) to counter arguments just results in them becoming even more loud and irritating.

I suppose conjecture and innuendo are the levels of proof required for guilty pleas from Manafort and Cohen etc and why they’re going to jail.

That's already been gone over many times as you know. The fact that they were busted for other things makes it look like there's less evedence to some. To other's it's a plan to get the little fish to roll on the big fish and so on.

The fact that they keep saying Mueller is going to drop a bombshell any day now, means it hasn't been dropped yet. It's that simple really.

I personally fwiw swing both ways on this. On one hand it would be interesting if it ended up going nowhere. Otoh it would be time to get a big bowl of popcorn if it does.

With the umpteen contacts with Russians between trump & his people, I REALLY don't see this going nowhere.. not sure how anyone could. Unless they are as the comic depicts.

None of those pictured have noses.

Meetings with Russian dignitaries is not evidence of Russian collusion. Hillary had meetings with the Russian ambassador. I really don't understand how hatred of Trump robs people of their critical thinking skills. It's quite an interesting phenomenon. Yes, you can dislike Trump and not buy into the Russia hysteria, which is extremely dangerous, given NATO and Americans are lined up all along their borders. Yay! Bring on WW3!

Alright, let's wait for the Mueller report. But if the Mueller report turns up nothing, I'm sure we'll be hearing things like, "f**k Mueller! Mueller sucks! We KNOW there was Russian collusion!"

Regardless of the outcome, it's still way down on the list of concerns. At the top should be the fact that our Democratic process is already compromised and rigged from the inside. As far as foreign influence is concerned, why does nobody scream bloody murder about the influence countries like Israel and Saudi Arabia has on our elections?

Critical thinking is your friend. Embrace it!

I thought it was funny, but Troglodyte is right; false analogy.

The pro-Trump faction seems to have forgotten Al Capone was brought down by tax law. It was impossible to prove the murders, bootlegging, money-laundering, etc. that were the real crimes.

But please don't lash out, guys. This the the news sub-forum. Take it outside (in PPR.)

Unlike in the movie Capone was also charged with violations of The National Prohibition Act.



The meme posted wasn't a news story though and probably should have been posted in PPR. There have been several threads started here by various members to make a statement which ends up causing the PPR effect.

Ezra, I agree with you this probably should have gone in PPR, but I'm not a moderator nor do I claim to know the rules that well.

I learned about Capone and Ness and Prohibition back in 5th grade, when American history was still taught in elementary school. I'm pretty sure this was well before the movie.

Capone was charged with violations of the Prohibition Act (it was tossed out of court), and many of his operations were broken up, but the only thing that actually got him was failure to pay taxes.

I am a mod although wet behind the ears but my thoughts on this is it's a post that could be interpreted to provoke all Trump supporter beliefs which is in my opinion a 'generalised attacks on the adherents of those beliefs'

However , I personally think it's an attack on a sub type of Trump supporters but I don't think Goldfish sees the difference. I have no problem with it as it's done in a jokey way but it should be probably put in PPR where the rules are a little lapse.
