Here's a bit of reality-based context people like this invariably (and disingenuously) omit.
Only 1% of abortions are late-term; abortion in the last couple of weeks even rarer still. It is invariably done because there is no chance of survival; the child is so ill or deformed that it will die within minutes of birth. Often, late-term abortions are performed because the fetus has already died in utero.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LIVE-BIRTH ABORTION.
What people like this are intentionally misrepresenting is labor voluntarily induced so that the grieving parents can spend a few moments with their child before it dies; a familial tragedy of unspeakable proportions that people like this exploit for cheap outrage; a callous exploitation of the suffering of others so heinous that rises to the level of overt sociopathy. My nephew was kept alive for 9 days even though he had no digestive tract and had other complications -- conditions that were not apparent during the pregnancy (technology being less advanced back then), but that became obvious only after he was born.

Seems like they are saying in special cases where the mothers health is at risk, an abortion could occur late term if the mother chooses. I don't get the impression they were saying anyone can get an abortion up to the moment of birth. Seems there would have to be the condition that having the baby will harm the mother for such a thing to occur.

Did you even watch this whole interview or just this little bit of it you posted?

Some people would rather argue Left versus Right than express sympathy for children whose lives are nothing but suffering.

I feel that the rights of the child should bear the same rights as that of the child-bearer. If that means sticking up for abuse victims by handing out central support through a not so wealthy nationalised healthcare system, then so be it.

It's not an abortion on the birthday, it's murder. I believe in pro choice up to a certain stage, but not the birthday, that's insane.

Like I said, I think she is talking about emergencies where they might have to perform an emergency abortion to save the mother. If the mother wants them to save the baby instead she can probably request that...but I think the default is they save the mother if having the baby is likely to kill her.

If she just meant abortion in general should be allowed up until that point then I would also disagree, but I have to assume she's talking about emergencies. In which case it wouldn't be right to charge a doctor for murder because they had to kill the baby to save their patient. I mean we cannot force women to be willing to give up their life for the baby if it comes down to that.

There is not enough of the video though to determine the context and what exactly she meant.
