(CNN) UK grocery chain Waitrose has apologized after being accused of racism over the names of three chocolate ducklings.

The "Waitrose Trio of Chocolate Easter Ducklings" contains a white, milk and dark chocolate version, which were named "Fluffy," "Crispy" and "Ugly" respectively.

A Twitter user questioned why Waitrose had chosen to call the darkest duckling "Ugly."

Well I suppose I would be curious why they chose ugly for the darkest one. I mean I saw something earlier where an ad was pulled because it was supposedly racist against asians, but it showed british people failing to eat a burger with chop sticks....so I thought that was ridiculous because if anything it just showed white people failing to eat with chop sticks while trying to eat a food you don't even use them for.

But I can see people being bothered by this duck thing, like why did they choose cute terms like crispy and fluffy for the lighter ones and 'ugly' for the darkest one...perhaps a cute name that fits with fluffy and crispy would have been more appropriate. I mean maybe you yourself don't care, but I mean I don't think I would want to hand the 'ugly' darkest colored duck of the bunch to a black kid as I think that would be kinda racially insensitive. Like I am curious why does only the darkest one have a negative name while the lighter ones are just cutesy names? I realize it is just candy ducks so its not a worldwide crisis but I mean how did the company not realize maybe that wasn't the best choice?

Wasn't the darkest one also the only one tinged with some sort of sprinkly stuff to suggest discolouration? Seems a more logical reason for the name.

I still don't get why they thought it would be a good idea to release a series of ducks with the white chocolate and milk chocolate having cutesy names and then having a dark chocolate duck called ugly with sprinkly stuff to suggest discoloration. I mean that is almost worse not only is ugly the duck the darkest duck of the bunch he also has skin discoloration so what we're making fun of darker people and people with skin discoloration as well? with easter candy? like that just seems like really bad taste.

Probably a bad idea in general, sure. Either way, if I remember my fairy tales correctly, wasn't the ugly duckling a swan duckling?

The ugly duckling is a story about a black swan egg that somehow got mixed in with duck eggs. So after hatching the ducks and ducklings figured he was an ugly duckling, but of course turned out to be quite beautiful when grown.

Interesting. My stepfather never mentioned this part of the story when he brought it up yesterday. It is truly astounding how conservative news sources are willing to distort the context in order to further their agenda :x

It will be racist liberals who complained as they see race in everything. They actually see non whites as lesser so that's why they take notice of such garbage.

Given fluffy is a "dark brown" duck I think we can discount racism (agreed this is pretty dumb if that was the reason)

I am more concerned about the use of the term "ugly" to describe the duck as plenty of teenagers contemplating suicide because they bullied over their looks...

However the owner is probably just invoking the fairy tale rather than anything sinister....lets hope they don't also ban chocolate easter buns

So should they globally alter the fairy tale of the ugly duckling, make it a white duckling so people will shut up with their nonsense, of course will will have to alter everything that could be seen negative and make everything white. That way only white things will have the attachment of negative words, maybe that we'll help out all the democrats across the globe?

Perhaps we should rename poop to good smelling gold stuff?

I believe this commercial and the product was removed because of racism complaints:

I remember it because that was a very tasty taco.
