Seperate US President/Veep Vote?

The San Francisco Chronicle today had a story about a tech executive who is funding an effort to seperate the election of the US President and Vice-President, instead of the existing voting for them as a twosome. (I can't link.) He explains why he wants to do this and how it could be done.

That wasn't in the originial Constitution until we ended up with enemies in the top two positions.

...Yes, he says it would not.take an amendment to return to a seperately voted on President and Veep. Of course, the Nig Two parties wouldn't like it - including because of their traditional of " balancing the ticket " by having candidates from two different areas/wings of the party ! (Ethnic/gender/religion, too.)
