Honestly think this guy is the craziest elected leader in the world and he has some stiff competition. Obviously this kind of hurtful and dangerous rhetoric has been disproved many times before, but I'm wondering about Duterte himself.

My question do you think this guy:

1) Actually has some homosexual feelings and hates himself for those?

2) Is just saying crazy s**t to justify his political platform?

Sexuality is indeed fluid and it's not unheard of that people's orientations can change over time, but there's no scientific or biological basis for the "gay cure". It's an either-or, or perhaps a mixture of both: obviously the intent is to discredit and dehumanize gay people, but there's no shortage of internalized homophobia in politics. As cynical as it may sound, I always silently rejoice whenever anti-LGBTQ and/or "family values" politicians get caught having gay affairs.

If what Mr. Duterte said is true, then the following must also be true.

1. Homosexuality is a disease.
2. Homosexuality is curable.
3. Homosexuality is a choice.
4. A person can choose to cure him/herself of homosexuality.

Now, I am not about to call Mr. Duterte a liar, but ...

Anyone who says homosexuality is a "choice" clearly is an idiot.

Who the hell would make the "choice" to be gay knowing the hostility from every society that comes with it?

That's like making the choice to be autistic. :roll:

I didn't choose to be straight. I found my dad's Playboys when I was a kid and everything sort of clicked.

My cousin gave me playboys when I was 14, but I was turned on by the actual playBOYS and not the ladies in those pictures.

I wonder if this guy REALLY likes girls----or if he's just faking it.

Or maybe he was 'Bi" all along-----therefore, he didn't "cure" himself of his "gayness."
