My bad, I didn't realise the sons were adults - this at least changes the legal aspect.
Kansas is full of ignorant people based upon my many years of observing them when I lived there. I am sure there are very intelligent ones, but they seem to be few and far between the rest. In the rural area that I lived in, it had a real Wild West feel to it and not in a good way. Certain people could do no wrong there. I know of people that talked their way out of a DUI simply because of whom they were. They just got told to drive carefully on their way home. A true “Good Ole’ Boy” mentality exists in that state. You did not want to be on the other side of the coin, as I have known of innocent people being charged with crimes as a means to get even. Trying to save them puts you into the same class as the innocents that you are trying to help. Mother Nature is the great equalizer there. Mark my words, Kansas will pay a large price someday from the misuse of the land and water that they depend upon to exist.
