I'm just confirming that no one was hurt? I have family around Thousand Oaks and as close as Bakersfield. I just heard about this now, but they aren't replying on FB. I'm assuming all's good.

The authorities are still assessing damage. I'm sure that the Media will provide in-depth coverage of every tear, every drop of blood, and every hysterical hyperventilation within the next 24 hours.

I agree .... along with a dramatic theme song and graphic, I'm sure. No news is good news, I assume.
Thanks, Fnord.

Give them a while, they may be more concerned with keeping each other calm than with contacting family. FB is a good place to post status, as it keeps people from clogging up the phone system.

The epicenter is 10 miles from Ridgecrest. It wasn’t that near Bakersfield, about 110 miles. It’s very far from Thousand Oaks, 167 miles.

"Very Far" in this case is 150 miles or less. Close enough to be felt and do damage.

It's still crickets from my family, and strangely none are on FB tonight. It doesn't even say when they were last active. I'm an optimist so I'll bet everything's fine, but it does seem odd.

Thanks for the updates.
