They have varying reasons they give or law enforcement piecs together. But to me it is like their motive is more like an excuse to go on a shooting rampage.

Or perhaps the serial killer category, except that they make their multiple kills all at once rather over a span of months or years.

Many more people die by gun violence daily, but they die while engaging in behavior most US citizens can't relate to (street stuff). As a consequence those deaths are ignored. But because most people can relate to going to Wal-Mart, or a bar, the outrage is heightened. Which is understandable, but very sad.
