Some of us live in countries that proclaim to use democratic political systems as their foundation for government.
I understand that such governments have democratic methods for political leaders to get into position.
However, once this happens, I question that what occurs after is democratic.

If there are any experts in politics out there, i would appreciate it if you would help explain how your democratic governments work, once the politicians are in office.

how is the process after politicians gain office democratic, i am especially interested in learning what happens when there are changes that need to be made to the present manner in how the government deal with something,
for example. how does one go about getting politicians make changes to the present governmental system for helping people with autism spectrum disorder.

This is an area that all the members of this forum could get involved in, as it is only through such campaigns that we may get our governments to take notice and make the essential changes to the world around us.

I think democracy exists, I just don't think it works the way people think it does. Politicians either lie intentionally, or make promises they can't possibly keep. If an elected official is a fraud, how can true democracy work?

Yes. I think that countries who proclaim to have a democratic government should
pay their governmental officials based on performance,

performance split into
a realising the policies that they got voted in
and
performance based on new current issues during their time in office

if they don't make good on their promises
then they don't get paid

also
if anyone is found to have any invested interest
they should get put in prison

Personally, i think that the way democratic governments should work should be more than
just voting.

In this day and age, of technological advancements, there is no reason why we can't actually have
a government where some of the decisions are literally voted on by all the population.
Now that would be true democracy, putting the power back in the hands of the people who pay the taxes.
Rather than just a few elite who are professional politicians.

Part of what I know of is you have to be able to communicate what you are thinking to your elected officials and preferably explain how making things more favorable for you may benefit other groups as well. I wrote one letter to a group of elected officials for Florida then a few months later saw on the local news when visiting a family member in a different state that although the main point of my letter was over looked apparently but a law was passed there based around my one key example.

Of course democracy exists. There are different forms of it though, and some people get very mixed up on what it actually is. One of the minor side effects of the last 3 years of political upheaval in the UK has been that the word 'undemocratic' now just gets thrown around willy-nilly to effectively mean 'something I don't like'

I am not aware if there is a true democracy anywhere in the world. By definition a democracy is rule by the people. Most Americans think they live in a democracy but they really don’t.

I don't think this can be summed up in one or two short answers really. To try and be pure and simple though, ''Democracy is a product of superior and moral diversity that is rich in life and equal to the core.'' If I have taken this from a quote by Socrates or something then it spans back an entire millennia when humans really did exist on our planet. Even cavemen had something to give back to their fellow human beings.. I watch edited Norwegian style documentaries which give some dated forensic clues and deeper analysis of how our planet truly functioned during that time.
