Michigan Candidate Shocks Forum After Declaring She Wants to Keep City 'a White Community'

Quote:
city council candidate in Michigan shocked a public forum when she said she wants to keep her community white “as much as possible.”

Jean Cramer made the comment Thursday in response to a question about diversity in Marysville, a city in St. Clair County, 55 miles (88 kilometers) northeast of Detroit. The Times Herald in Port Huron said she’s one of five candidates running for three council seats in November.

More than 90% of Marysville’s 9,700-person population is white.

Cramer responded when the moderator asked candidates if Marysville should do more to attract foreign-born residents, who are boosting populations in some Great Lakes states.

The newspaper later asked Cramer if she wanted to clarify her remarks.

“Husband and wife need to be the same race. Same thing with kids,” she said. “That’s how it’s been from the beginning of, how can I say, when God created the heaven and the earth. He created Adam and Eve at the same time. But as far as me being against blacks, no I’m not.”

Other candidates at the forum were deeply troubled. Mike Deising said: “Just checking the calendar here and making sure it’s still 2019.”

Council member Paul Wessel said anyone who makes it to Marysville should be allowed to live there. The council meeting room is named for the late Joseph Johns, who was Syrian, owned a local business and was an elected official for decades. He was the father of Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Hayman.

Mayor Dan Damman said Cramer’s comments were “vile” and “jaw-dropping.”

People are so scared of what's different to them. It's crazy.

I'm so much happier living in a multicultural city than I ever was in a small town full of people who we very similar in their outlook.

The only downside is that when my friends move back to the country they grew up in and I don't see them so often :(

This woman is missing out!

One of my friends made a comment about feeling prejudiced against today and it really hit me. Obviously I don't forget that she's black, but I forget that people may treat her differently because of it. It's so stupid. She's such a lovely person.

She's a candidate.

It will interesting to see if her "KEEP OUR CITY WHITE" strategy is a winning one. :)

Michigan is one of the most racist states I've ever lived in. The saddest thing about Jean Cramer is that she is like most of Michiganders I know who don't even realize how racist they really are -- to them, "keeping it white" is just the way things "should" be, because "that's just how it is".

I may never move back.

:(

Worse than Mississippi or Alabama?

For the records, Maine is the “whitest” state in the U.S.

Well, worse than Indiana. I haven't lived in the Deep South except for two weeks in Huntsville, Alabama and 3 months in Orlando, Florida -- not long enough to really get a 'feel' for how deeply racist those states are.

I don't think Orlando counts as the deep south. Florida is its own special place.

The Panhandle is very Deep South, while South Florida is very diverse.

it seemed to work for Bannon and Trump...
Mr Trump apparently made numerous jokes about Obama's authenticity as a legitimate resident.

Huntsville is not like rural Alabama. Its nickname is the “Rocket City.” Many STEM types live there.

Orlando isn't the panhandle though. It's central Florida.

Personally, i think that white supremacy is borne out of an inferiority complex to do with the size of white men's bits.
I also think that there have been numerous factors on the turning of the first world.

Firstly, a number of years ago the White residents of South Africa fled their country while being pushed out by the black people of SA, who had enough of apartheid. A great many of these people were wealthy business and land owners with great financial resources, and who held extremely racist views which were installed in them during their upbringing.

I wonder where all these people went when they left SA, and where did all their money go?
Perhaps they all grouped together and decided that they had had enough, and that what they needed to do now, is get organised and take action. As now was the time, as they already had suffered hardship due to the upheaval being forced to move from their homeland. I wonder if these people got together and put their money together and gave it all to Mr. Bannon, who then used it to fund the rise of race supremacy not only in the US but across the globe.

Steve Bannon was also the man behind Cambridge Analytica. The company that was involved in data mining facebook and engineering the past 2 US elections.

Another factor was how the Arab states held the west ransom with their oil supply. This caused major conflict between the two main territories.

Then we had 9/11, which was either caused by Al Queda as a reaction by Bin Laden, after having his millions kept in NY banks confiscated (that's the official story).

Although i would not be surprised if someone were to find evidence that Steve Bannon and perhaps some of his wealthy media mogul buddies had orchestrated the entire event, in a "Charles Mason" style Helter Skelter type of catalytic event that was designed to create a race war, or at the very least help race supremacists gain power, so they could then start to create conditions similar to that of pre-ww2.

Creating jobs out of a recession that they had created themselves, in order to make themselves look like the hero's.
In times of hardship or after many years of living day to day with no sign of hope, the people will worship any leader that puts bread on the table and gives the unemployed decent jobs, even if the jobs are preparing for war.

Obviously, the white supremacists have always been there as a minority, with the hard core ones being constantly agitating and awaiting for opportunity to seize power. I guess recessions and terrorist events are just the opportunity.

According to candidate Cramer “Husband and wife need to be the same race. Same thing with kids,” she said. “That’s how it’s been from the beginning of, how can I say, when God created the heaven and the earth. He created Adam and Eve at the same time.

The dear lady at least has demonstrated she hasn't read the bible. Amazing how many white christians who think the bible defends their racist ideology.

The idea that black men have bigger penises is a stereotype.

It certainly is.....but this was one of the premises behind racism. It causes people to do really barbaric things back in the old days.

Rather like the “Jews ratted out Christ” idea.
