To be fair, those conservatives likely disagree with conservatives like this on this matter. Using drugs and/or opposing prohibition aren't quite left/right issues.

Guys like that would flip a lot of conservatives if they had substantial power, but since they won't get their way on that issue conservatives who oppose prohibition, or who smoke weed tend to ignore stuff like that. As long as that person is anti-choice and opposed to gun control, they'll be the preferable candidate for most self-identified conservatives. This is why there's a fair bit of diversity on non-core issues within the fringe right, the nationalists, Dominionists, pseudo-libertarian types, etc disagree on a lot but they're united by a few issues they prioritize over the rest.

How much of a role do you think evangelicals play in opposition to marijuana legalization?

Or is it mostly Big Pharma and prison-for-profit?

Perhaps a combination of all three, playing off each others' rhetoric, each to their own advantage.

To some fundamentalist evangelical Christians, anything other than praise and worship of God is at best a "necessary evil" if not an absolute sin.

My older brother smokes it but he would call you a “liberal girl” if he found out you don’t support Trump. :roll:

He also doesn’t like classic rock bands because they are all hippies to him and thinks pop-country is “smoking music”.

I don't think that Christ ever said anything about marijuana smoking. Neither praised it nor condemned it.

So I don't see any kind of Biblical foundation for what that preacher is saying.

But Christ did famously turn "water into wine". So Christ was all for drinking soft liquor. And soft liquor is roughly equivalent to pot smoking.
