House officially announces impeachment inquiry. To use a poker metaphor, in my opinion the democrats have gone all in holding 4 cards of the same suit. If they get that 5th card to complete the flush it will pay off richly. If not it will blow up in their faces.

I feel there's virtually zero chance of a conviction.

There's another reason why they are considering impeaching him----rather than expecting him to be convicted.

She had to do this against her better judgement if she wanted to stay on as speaker. An increasing and now majority of her members want this as well as a lot of the Dem Presidential candidates. The Republicans are not the only party fearful of their own members.

Impeachment then Senate trail during a Presidential election year, what a cluster f**k. The best political novelist could not have made this up.

I believe I'm saying this from an objective perspective: It seems the timing, the basis, etc represents utter desperation to the point of being very unsettling in and of itself.
