Newsweek reports that Turkey apparently attacked US special forces by mistake:

https://www.newsweek.com/us-troops-syria-turkey-1464727

Turkey claims it didn't happen. The US Department of Defense claims, however, that they did and Turkey knew US forces were there:

Quote:
"The explosion occurred within a few hundred meters of a location outside the Security Mechanism zone and in an area known by the Turks to have U.S. forces present," the statement added, noting that there were no U.S. injuries nor have U.S. personnel withdrawn from Kobani—with Newsweek's source able to confirm the U.S. had multiple positions in the city.

What do you expect when we put troops in their enemy’s bases. This is why we didn’t attack certain Syrian bases cause we didn’t want to kill Russian troops.
Turkey is lucky none of them got killed. We either need to break ties with turkey and declare war, or leave the Kurds to their fate. We can’t supoort both sides and expect to not be caught in crossfire.

I could care less if the Turks want us there. We have every right to strike back unless they beg for forgiveness.

Erdogan is hardly the typical NATO ally, and in fact is one of the strongmen out to destroy democracy. The sooner he's gone, the better it'll be for everyone.

France or Germany would never do something so stupid as bombing out troops, then try to deny it.

If we had troops stationed in a terrorist (labeled by them and actively fighting) base then yes in all likely hood they would. As would we. Say turkey had troops in isis bases, we’d bomb the isis base then be like wuss didn’t know you had troops there. Probably cause we wouldn’t known and they probably didn’t know either. I doubt we share our social forces operations with turkey. Nato only shares infor about joint operations or normal troop locations. Example none of the nato nations share their nuclear sub operations or locations, which is why years ago a French and English subs hit each other.

So turkey counter attacked the Kurds and didn’t know us troops were there. Whether we like the Turks or Kurds is irrelevant, they enemies to each other. We avoided known bases with Russia troops, but if Russia had has spec ops embedded with certain units, we’d hit them on accident. See war isn’t clean, it’s very dirty and we’ve complicated it more by supporting both sides of a conflict. Sounds like ww1 all over again.

It's the denial on Erdogan's part that makes me pissed at them.

The US and Turkey are both there illegally. They should get the f**k out of the country and problem solved. There will be forces at work in the US literally willing to do anything to keep the US there illegally. People ought to learn from history.

Enjoy!
