I am a bit obsessed with maps and countries. Love it when a new one gets created.

Kosovo felt genuinely exciting (to me) here in Europe

Like Brexit its going to take awhile to finalized it if it is ever finalized. But that's a trouble spot you don't even hear about.

They had a ten year civil war between Papua New Guinea and the island of Bougainville, and apparently it didn't get much attention in the US news.

Fifteen thousand Bouganville islanders died in the war. That's probably more than either Israel or Palestine has lost in the Gaza fighting. And relative to the island's population of 238,000 its about three times the death toll of the United States in its Civil War.
