Can news broadcasts pique that extra interest for those on the Autism Spectrum?

The "same-old same-old" standardized daily/nightly news broadcast formats might be seen as strict routines to follow - even though (NTs also) quietly tire of well....the same-old, same-old sensationalized, rating-orientated formats....yet we routinely return to watch news in-order to briefly "take our minds" off of our own daily concerns. Lately, I've found myself switching channels on those end of broadcast "feel good" segments.

How many feel macabre views on news-stories of horrible events?

For the most part, I prefer to view news-events through Google News (that just plain-old text, and images), the quality news MSNBC - even though it's largely orientated around politics. My goal is to watch, and learn from those more in-depth PBS News shows.

In-depth news coverage might appeal to those on the Autism spectrum - that is thoughtful journalism can be refreshing after a diet of too much mass-media - the very mass media which at times can feel uncomfortable to those on the spectrum!
