TLDR?

American Indians have the highest rate of high risk pre-existing conditions that could make C-19 fatal. Underfunded healthcare systems that are woefully inadequate And their entire revenue stream has been cut off with the closure of casinos and hotels.

Hopefully their efforts to isolate their people and cut off all outsiders from visiting work.. but it does look like they’re very vulnerable and going to need help from the federal government that they’re unlikely to receive.

"they suffer disproportionately from hypertension, asthma, cancer, heart and cardiovascular disease"

Why?

Lots of factors. Genetics, poverty, drug and alcohol abuse, trauma etc. It’s a bit of a rough go when you’re only a couple generations passed a ~95% (or whatever; close enough approximation) genocide of your people that’s been followed up by systemic oppression.

^ In the past, Native Americans were about to be completely wiped out by diseases and plagues brought by Europeans; they didn’t have any natural resistance against them because the new word was clean and devoid of such viruses (probably because they had no farming nor large croweded cities like Europe and China; two major factors that lead to plagues); none of them were vaccinated or having antibodies; native american culture (and even the old southern american native cultures) had a completely different way of living.

So It wouldn’t be surprising if they’re more vulnerable to modern diseases than most.

Most Native Americans happen to be in locales where Coronavirus hasn’t made as much inroads. If they are in “reserves,” they are in isolated locations, where not many people circulate (unlike a place like New York City).

It’s the urban areas which are being affected by Coronavirus most. Native Americans in urban areas are at the most risk.

Most people in poverty will have high risk factors.Poor people buy cheap food, lots of white rice, bleached flour, pasta and processed sugar. Most live in food deserts where you can’t find a fresh piece of fruit or veggies. Many feel depressed and self medicate with alcohol, drugs and tobacco.Rural areas also have few doctors.
So you have diabetes, coronary problems and obesity. All putting you in a high risk of problems for the virus.
I’d guess it’s why Louisiana is getting slammed.Plenty of low income families there and across the South.

There is a similar concern for the Australian aborigines.

Have there previously been studies done that suggested native American Indians are more likely to have these things compared to other ethnicity ancestries?

It is well known that many Native Americans were wiped out by such European diseases as measles around the 16th-17th centuries.

It was because they had no immunity to these diseases.

Quote:
Hydroxychloroquine: Australian government waives regulatory requirements for drug

Several anti-viral and anti-malarial drugs, which have also been touted by US president as a treatment for coronavirus, have been exempted from strict approval regime

If it turns out that Trump was right in touting Hydroxychloroquine, there are going to be a lot of red-faced democrats.

Oops, wrong thread.

And ironically the level of poverty is rising sharply with keeping people safe by keeping them out of work.

The physical and psychological health of millions is rapidly declining.

As Sheldon Lee Cooper would say: "They are weak".
Time for the Aspie revolution.

Garden plants and seeds are flying off the shelves here.
Unfortunately not everyone has a plot of ground to till.
