Mike Bloomberg has dropped out and is going to support Biden. He says he will continue to pay his election staff up to November.

"(Reuters) - Billionaire former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg ended his presidential campaign on Wednesday and said he was backing Joe Biden for the Democratic Party’s nomination to challenge President Donald Trump in the November election.

“A viable path to the nomination no longer exists,” Bloomberg said in a statement, having failed to deliver convincing wins in his electoral debut on Super Tuesday despite lavish spending on campaign ads across the United States."

Good. I still think he is only the DNC's version of Trump. Good riddance.

I heard part of a Bloomberg ad on the radio the other day and he was exploiting the coronavirus epidemic in my opinion. I only heard part of it because I rolled my eyes and switched to another station.

I got calls from Bloomberg supporters promising me everything from world peace, perfect healthcare, and financial prosperity to an end to global warming, homelessness, and pandemics in exchange for my vote. I told them to sod off.

Narcissistic pride is my best guess.

That and zillions of dollars of disposable cash.

Agreed.

I think he sullied the face of the Democratic Party by entering the race in the first place. The last type of person the Democrats would choose to represent them would be a gajillionaire, a "one percenter" to the nth degree. The incongruent optics were akin to some death metal group performing at the Grand Ole Opry.

$600 million is apparently what he spent.

I was thinking the same thing when I wrote that.

And also slipping me some.

For all we know, Bloomberg could be on the ticket with Biden or Sanders when the DNC Convention happens.

I don't think so. Then man seemingly proved that he has zero popularity. In addition to what's looking like the inevitability of having an old white man as the Democratic candidate, adding Bloomberg to the ticket as a VP choice would be adding an unpopular old white man who is at the top of the 1%.

I agree with much of what you say but he has popularity in New York,a big state with high delegate count.Ex-New York mayor's are also popular in Florida as well because of all the retired New York snow bunnies, and Florida is also a big state with a high amount of electoral votes. If having him on the ticket could pull New York and Florida, not a bad choice.

so true. it is no wonder we can't have nice things and join the enlightened world when all the people with money enough to make them a reality are, more often that not, greedy, power-hungry narcissists in it for themselves and noone else.

the man came in, spent over half a BILLION dollars (can anyone here even visualize how much money that is, really?) and then he went "oops, oh well"...and he's going to go on living out the rest of his life like it was NOTHING.

It would be the equivalent of three heaping pickup loads of $100 dollar bills. I am basing that on the size of $30 million dollars in new $100 bills that I saw at a federal reserve bank display a few years ago. The area needed would go up if the bills were wrinkled, circulated and not in banded stacks.
