Any word what the train was hauling? Would be kind of funny if it was carrying a shipment of medical supplies.

More interesting is that the engineer allegedly made statements to a CHP officer that included, "You only get this chance once.  The whole world is watching.  I had to.  People don't know what's going on here.  Now they will."

 Fekking conspiracy theorists...

There is apparently a shortage of medical supplies so I wouldn't find a bunch of destroyed medical supplies to be very funny.

I think he meant funny-stupid, not funny-haha.

Fascinating to see humans react like animals.

Overhead image shows at least one flatcar with a shipping container on it.  The engineer admitted that he did it, saying that he was suspicious of the Mercy and believed it had an alternative purpose related to CoViD-19 or a government takeover.

I meant funny as in ironic.

It's idiotic ... mere suspicion and unfounded belief were all it took to motivate the engineer.

Doesn't the railroad screen for stupidity?

Well...the US railroad industry doesn't even care about your motor vehicle driving record when they hire you to drive trains. Or they didn't until a few years ago (after an epic crash on the eastern corridor). So I doubt that they go into your psychiatric record.

The FMCSA regulates how trucks can cross a railroad track but does not regulate trains :|

What an idiot, having cars attached reduced his momentum. He should have had more common sense and uncoupled before trying to hit a boat with a train.
