Of the 686 coronavirus related deaths in Massachusetts by saturday 44% were in care homes like nursing homes and such,The Massachusetts dept of health has released this information.Very hard hit has been the Soldiers Home in Holyoke.

On tuesday house speaker Robert DeLeo and rep. Ruth Blaser of Newton filed legislation requiring all long term care facilities to report to the DPH the number of tests and deaths in there facilities daily.

In Hamden county ,half of the veterans at the Holyoke Soldiers home have now contracted CV and 30 residents have died.

Gov. Charlie Baker said in a press conference on friday,that health systems in Massachusetts will be stretched like never before.It's not just the patients at risk but the care givers as well.

Do they have tests available for all nursing and care home patients, as well as the staff (worldwide) ?

I have to wonder how these people are expected to visit testing centres.

I sense that many seniors aren't tested and likely aren't even counted in statistics because it's "too much trouble" or "too much money" to test them all (possibly more than once). Likewise how do the staff get tested? They are around at-risk people on a daily basis so wouldn't they need tested nearly every day? (Not to mention they carry those germs home to their families).

Generally those in nursing homes are the most vulnerable of the population. This is due to age and comorbidities. Once the coronavirus finds its way into a nursing home, it spreads like wildfire.

Looks like it was a good idea for me to pospone moving into a care home.

And starting college.

Starting college would have been a good idea.

Maybe this is why my Mom moved me back home after I was living in a group home for 2 months?

Probably...

I was living in Albany, Georgia which was hit very hard by the virus. I hope the people living in that group home are doing ok through this.
