Who am I kidding, humans are rather egocentric and destructive, so all the tyrannical sociopaths of the world will continue to make the rest of us suffer. ![]()

Not of the good kind .. In Pakistan at least.. My brother sent us an article about these uneducated clerics 'warning' the government not to close moswues anymore
With a strong implication about clashes otherwise
Eslxcuse me why not tell your flock to turn their own homes into places of worship instead of turning on the govt who btw is led vy a very religious man you supposedly voted for?
They also talk about Lal Masjid where some of these......------- (i feel bad for them being so uneducated but i feel Angry too.. So i dont know the correct word to use)....
Had when my uncle was in power tried to hoard weapomry etc in the mosque and lots of other stuff that led to the military having to be called in because they were uneducated with no discernment they assumed govt siding with USA and evacuating a province and allowing USA to bomb it as well as the countrya soldiers there, as to ve "unislamic' n sympathizibg with Taliban as the underdogs etc NO nuance no intelligence and the military had to gun some od thrm down as they tried to attack n were holding women n children inside..
So not a good revolution at all unless someone can talk some sense into them which I doubt after a lifetime of them being stupid

My uncle (not the aforementioned, another who is a scientist) holds those at his home every friday and EVERY night during Ramadan.
He is smart though (nuclear physicist) so he knows not to do it now.
I think a lot of this furor has to do with missing the social part of it and no genuine reason besides tbat...esp for the uneducated elders who cannot imagine the concept of a virus
.
If all you do is work and are poor and have a tough life and this was your one time to look forward to and now its gone. I get it... I do .. But these ---- (dont know how to refer to them without being mean) should look at Saudi who closed Makkah n Madinah except fr the workers and cleaners who were already there and live there.
You go from these ginormous places of worship where your religion was established.. you KNOW they are empty for this reason.
So how can you have any basis for attacking your govt for doing the same and trying to protect you??
Lal masjid is evil in stupidity... I can never forget them and to see that they are again threatening... How dare they? After what happened before?

Forgive me, what happened before? Our commercial media services seem to filter out certain types of events while emphasizing others.

I've derailed the thread enough but it was mentioned in my first post here..they were stupid and became dangerous and then blamed the military and (blamed the president moreso) prime minister for the inevitable

Google Lal Masjid and Musharraff. The sad thing is my uncle(the other one mentioned the scientist one) actually sympathized a tad as he thought the military thing was unnecessary and wrong.
Im sorry but if you hold workers hostage have Weapons make threats sympsthize with Taliban etc there is no way that will end any other way.
The military were and are the heroes in my opinion. It is a sad decision but those peoplemade it ao it could end no other way..

Since January 2006, Lal Masjid and the adjacent Jamia Hafsa madrasah had been operated by Islamic militants led by two brothers, Abdul Aziz and Abdul Rashid. This organisation advocated the imposition of Sharia (Islamic religious law) in Pakistan and openly called for the overthrow of the Pakistani government. Lal Masjid was in constant conflict with authorities in Islamabad for 18 months prior to the military operation. They engaged in violent demonstrations, destruction of property, kidnapping, arson, and armed clashes with the authorities. A combination of events such as militants taking hostage the Chinese health care center's female workers and militants setting fire to the Ministry of Environment building and attacking the Army Rangers who guarded it, the military responded, and the siege of the Lal Masjid complex began. Military response was to address not just pressure from locals but also diplomatic pressure from China.
The complex was besieged from 3 to 11 July 2007, while negotiations were attempted between the militants and the state's Shujaat Hussain and Ijaz-ul-Haq. Once negotiations failed, the complex was stormed and captured by the Pakistan Army's Special Service Group. The government reported that the operation resulted in 154 deaths, and 50 militants were captured (other estimates were higher). It also prompted pro-Taliban rebels along the Afghan border to nullify a 10-month-old peace agreement with the Pakistani Government. This event triggered the Third Waziristan War, which marked another surge in militancy and violence in Pakistan and has resulted in more than 3,000 casualties.
