Australia 'on the cusp' of defeating the coronavirus

One of the nation's top doctors says Australia is "on the cusp" of defeating the coronavirus.

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer is advising people to stay home this Easter to make further progress towards flattening the curve.

For the most part, it seemed to dodge a bullet.

Paws crossed.

Yeah, hope the positivity doesn’t turn out to be over-optimism.

We are talking about 33-49 new cases per day.
I.E. Bugger all.
We haven't just flattened the curve,
We have crushed it.

If it gets out of hand again, I'll blame you.

Australia and New Zealand got advanced warning and have learned from the mistakes the U.S. and others made and have seen the consequences of these mistakes.

As I said, I like your humour.

But tippy-toe around political jokes, when you are near jimmy.

Yes, I’d figured that some aspects of my humour were not to his taste... hence the lack of my wit on his CV19 thread recently

Not entirely accurate, imo.

Australia went out on a limb, first by restricting flights from Wuhan, and then by calling "it" a pandemic.
Trump said he called it out first, but who takes what Trump said seriously?
From memory, Australia was hit before America.

But I was more focused on Australia, for obvious reasons.
If I am wrong, please provide evidence.
I am happy to correct my mistakes.

Australia was hit before the US, for obvious reasons: relative proximity to China.

Just stay away from excessive political off-topicness.
He has a rolled-up newspaper on the coffee table, next to him.
Smarts, don't it.

There was one of those map progression videos by a data crunching fanatic on YouTube showing first Australian case as before the first US one, but it got pulled by the algorithm for some unknown reason.

I apologize to Australia to apparently are a smarter country than America at least when it comes to sniffing out pandemics.

We are an island continent.
Much easier for us.

We also have Scott Morison as a leader.
He is not a Trump, thank the gods.
