Ambitious plan for such a poor country, but brilliant. Way to go! Perhaps some of the richer nations that have expressed support can supply some of them.

Just read earlier today that the Amazon is disappearing faster than ever (cut down).

That's exactly why life is so way out of whack (balance) and getting even worse because so many people have zero respect for nature, and work against it rather than with it.

That's very sweet news. I think that every country should do their part to make the world a greener place.

Isn't this the thing they beat out Greta Thunberg for a Nobel price with? Glad to see they kept at it.

It isn't too difficult to plan a small tree, a sapling. But just planting a tree doesn't mean that it will automatically grow into a forest. Most saplings will die unless they are given quite a bit of tender loving care.

In Ethiopia, mass deforestation has been a problem since the Middle Ages. Decades of deforestation when logging, land clearances and poorly defined property rights led to a dramatic decline in forest cover. Deforestation in Ethiopia is due to locals clearing forests for their personal needs, such as for fuel, hunting, agriculture, and at times for religious reasons. The main causes of deforestation in Ethiopia are shifting agriculture, livestock production and fuel in drier areas.

So if the forces that caused the deforestation still exist, what is to prevent a repeat?
