From fiction a week ago:

Quote:
LOS ANGELES, CA—Religious people in Southern California have found a bold, creative solution for in-person meetings in spite of the continuing lockdown. This past weekend, several area churches attended church services disguised as righteously indignant rioters.

"We already have the righteous indignation thing down," said one church elder. "Now, we've simply added black balaclavas, hoodies, Guy Fawkes masks, and baseball bats! We found that when we do this, we can meet in large groups without much interference from the local authorities. It's been a delightful experience."

Leaders from Spirit-River In The City Church in LA County are reporting a successful Sunday service after using this method. Churchgoers were given bricks and fake Molotov cocktails before they surrounded the church with menacing looks on their faces. Several deacons then smashed some church windows to make the riot look more realistic. Unfortunately, onlookers grew suspicious when the massive group of rioters broke out into a round of the smash-hit worship song "Reckless Life Engulfment." Some of the attendees were forced to stage brawls in order to keep up appearances.

According to sources, some churchgoers in the area are planning to continue wearing masks to church even after the lockdown has ended in order to hide their identities from Hollywood directors and producers.

We now have:
Quote:
A North Carolina auto racing track sold more than 800 tickets to a packed race Saturday in violation of Governor Roy Cooper's orders, but organizers have avoided citation so far under a local sheriff who views statewide social distancing mandates as "unconstitutional."

Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, North Carolina on Saturday defied the North Carolina governor's executive order which forbids gatherings of more than 25 people in Phase II of the state's reopening plan. But the racetrack owners billed the event as a "protest" race against "injustice and inequality," and dubbed the event a "unity rally with racing."

I wonder how long will the lockdowns be able to be enforced now, with "protests" being an allowable reason to ignore them?

Strangely enough, it is commonly the "left" who wished the lock-downs to continue, but also who are predominantly behind/involved in the protests, making this a potentially unfortunate "own-goal".

The whole thing,
Not the attendees.

If you call willfully ignorant reckless negligence on the part of the White House a farce, ...yeah. There is nothing farcical about the right to freedom of peaceful assembly.

That first story can't be true. They are a bunch of naive idiots, or wannabe actors with no skill. Who in the heck came up with that plan? And mock fighting?

Please focus on what the OP has presented.
Always attacking me is tiresome.

Some were, but at varying rates...Allowing "unlimited", or at least unregulated size of groups will, however, make it a lot harder for the restrictions to remain in place, so those areas hardsest hit (New York, for example) are likely to have a lot harder time trying to defend restrictions should a person/group take them to court over the lock-down now.

Comedy writers came up with that plan. 'The Babylon Bee' is a satirical website.

Citing the "Babylon Bee" as a reliable source is disingenuous at best, and somewhat twee at worst.

As pressure mounts to charge officers with the crimes they have committed, it is vital to keep one glaring issue in mind: if we fill our jails with cops who have broken the law, where will we imprison the people who do not want cops to break the law?

I think the reason that the OP cited the Babylon bee as fiction was to give a comparison of a couple of weeks ago in satirical writing to a more recent real life writing about the race.

I was on the fence about the virus but I think the protest prove to me that the virus is overated that we don't need to have things locked down yes I admit it is like worse then the flu but I have never know a single person in my life die of the Flu.

Why would the same party that says the virus is horrible the we need to be locked down not gather in large crowds have a large base of their supporters gathering in large crowds so they and their family are exposed before they can vote in Nov.

In my opinion, that does not seem to be the OP's preferred modus operandi.

Yes, I swallowed the hook, too, looking into quotes and links first - but it's okay, BB is in their right place in the OP.

I'm not sure where you got the idea I claimed the "Babylon Bee" was a reliable source, or how much more I was expected to do to indicate that this entry was fiction...I mean, the first sentence in the post, immediately before the "quote" and URL, even stated that it was fiction.

I added that entry specifically to demonstrate how an idea that was the work of fiction a week ago had now left that realm and moved into fact (the second link), and to question how this may end up affecting the lock-down's and their gradual (or potentially sudden) easing, given that so many politicians in favor of the lock-downs were also happy to support the protests.

Alternatively, I suppose, it is possible you have some alternative definition for fiction, where it translates as "true"\"factual", in which case I appologise for not having been aware of this.
