A Michigan woman tried to have her ex-husband killed for 5K by going to a spoof hire a hitman website.

Wendy Wein,51,of South Rockwood,MI was arrested after she put in a customer service request at rentahitman.com a joke website,website admin then contacted Michigan state police.

Undercover officers then met with,Wein in a parking lot near her home,at the meeting she offered undercover officers $5,000 to kill her ex-husband.

She was arrested on charges of solicitation to commit murder and illegal use of a computer to facilitate a crime.
The site owner said since launching the joke site in 2005,rentahitman.com,he has contacted law enforcement numerous times by people requesting,murders,school shootings and even child abductions.

He claims the spoof site has prevented over 130 murders because he refers all requests to law enforcement.The spoof site even includes fake testimonials and is billed as a point and click solution to your problem.

I was going to ask how someone could be so stupid.. but 130+ people? There must be something in the water.. oh, right, Michigan. :lol:

I am guessing that figure is 130+ people through out the country, not just Michigan since it is the web.

I tried to find the actual site online (expecting to see tongue-in-cheek testimonials like that), but all i can find so far are reams of pages of news stories ABOUT the site. The biggest being this latest story, but there are also some older stories that come up. Like the one about teen guy who tried hire them to kill classmates in 2012. Another teen wanted two girls in school to be "strangled" (not sure if the teen was a girl or guy).

People think there on some darkweb website or something and don't realize those sites don't have testimonials.There probably are sites where you can contact a real hitman,but you would never say I' looking for a hit,you'd say like "I have a problem" and then you'd be asked to text a throw away cell phone that can't be traced.Contacting a hitman in general is dumb,a Worcester,MA woman did that,then the hitman killed her and took her money.

Wow. And to think if the police hadn't done this because they were ABOLISHED, the woman might have found a real hit man and her husband might be dead right now, along with a lot of other people because these would-be killers don't have the intelligence to tell a fake website from a real one.

Of course, they also lack the intelligence not to kill in the first place.

I can't believe such website actually exists and that the host actually allows it. I would expect this stuff to be on the dark web.

And BTW, there are fake websites on the dark web too to catch criminals. Law enforcement make them such as hiring hitmen.
