Bears causing problems during pandemic

Bear complaints are getting more common says New Hampshire Fish and Wildlife.
People are staying at home more or all the time and hence making more garbage.Bear's have a strong sense of smell and good memories.

Tie garbage bags tight!
have good lids on trash cans!
Dispose of your trash weekly,with a service or take it to the dump!
Don't leave bags lying around aside trash cans!

Remember a Fed bear is a dead Bear.

They will also come for fruit trees and bee hives.Large dogs are the best option.

Bird feeders are another problem,my dad used to get a lot bears to his bird feeders,almost every day.

With Covid it's garbage that's attracting them.

I don't know about bears, but a gardening trick I know of for smaller pests is to leave wads of human or dog hair laying around to keep raccoons and such away.

That's a good idea

At our Montana lake house, we constantly get trash all over and knocked down trash cans because bears come or a skunk. It's better to build a enclosed storage shed and keep the trash in there and then take out when you haul to the dump.

Black bears are getting common in a rural town where I work. I did see one myself one day, in the middle of the street by the casino.
