Have not seen this information anywhere else yet .

Later reported it was a storage depot of old chemicals that blew up, After having seen the video footage .
And the NPR. Report , looked like a initial explosion with several strong secondary explosions .
“Just Saying “that it looked like a precision bomb strike . On a munitions storage . Am open to any other opinion on the secondary and more , Explosions ?

Hoping boo is safely away from that area .

Yes, this what endless list of eye witnesses said (and “ear witnesses”). It was in no doubt a military operation.

The most likely story: it was tons of Nitrate ammonium stored by Hezbollah there for explosive usage (using the christian area as human shield); and Israel located it and bombed it (then both sides denied it).
Note: Hezbollah members were arrested years earlier in Cyprus and Kuwait, with large amounts of this same substance.

Indeed, I forgot that your government is not only corrupt but also directly linked to a terrorist organisation.

Glad to see your fishy face :fish:

I was checking if he or his family was impacted by the blast/smoke

I am a little disconcerted this might have been an attack on christian areas of Beirut.

From what I know, Boo is an Atheist from a Muslim family.
Nevertheless - he's posting :)

If we are to trust official sources, it looks like negligence:

Lebanon's Interior Minister Mohammed Fehmi said the huge explosions may have been caused by explosive materials that were stored at Beirut port.

General Security Chief Abbas Ibrahim said: "It appears that there is a warehouse containing material that was confiscated years ago, and it appears that it was highly explosive material".

I hope Boo is safe.

Both are sources sympathizers to Hezbollah hence totally untrusting; and most likely covering something.

Trusted sources heard a jet sound barrier in southern part moments before it as well many friends/acquaintances I personally know said so, followed by a small bombing, fire and then this semi mini nuke-like blast. A pink shroom cloud covered the city for hours later, the stored “neglected” material seems to be tons of nitrate ammonium- which is known to be used to make explosives.

That was, in no doubt at all, a military operation.

Iran was getting a daily blast in sensitive areas as well in the last couple of weeks, as in series of sabotage operations.

Well, I wonder if/when the rest of the world media will show this as evidence.

and it is a pertinent reminder that some of our brothers and sisters live in comparatively less safe places in terms of bombings.

Actually, my office is less than 10 mins away.

I left late around 5:30, sometimes I stay there more than that.

That one pic of office.

That was awful! Just saw the explosion on my newsfeed and immediately thought of Boo.

I haven't read all the posts as my time is limited but that was truly horrifying! I'm very sorry Boo and to everyone over there. :(

Quote:
At least 100 people were killed and 4,000 wounded in a massive explosion that shook Beirut on Tuesday, state-run media reported, citing the Red Cross.
Hundreds have been reported missing, raising fears that the death toll will rise, Lebanon's Health minister said Wednesday.
It's still unclear what exactly caused the explosion. Lebanon's prime minister said an investigation would focus on an estimated 2,750 metric tons of the explosive ammonium nitrate stored at a warehouse.

Nurse hailed as hero after pulling three newborns out of a hospital hit by Beirut blast
...
What he saw was remarkable. "I was amazed when I saw the nurse holding three newborns," Jawich told CNN Arabic. "I noticed the nurse's calm, which contrasted with the surrounding atmosphere just one meter away." Several dead and injured people lay nearby, he said.
"However, the nurse looked like she possessed a hidden force that gave her self-control and the ability to save those children," Jawich said. "People stand out amidst these violent and dark and evil circumstances and this nurse was up to the task."

I am grateful our friend Boo is OK.
