Turkey gets way too many earthquakes. I remember like 10-15 years ago, a earthquake there killed 10's of thousands of people.

Izmir is a prominent tourist city. This is like a double whammy for them----this, in addition to COVID.

But people tend to be resilient. They will rebuild.

a 7 earthquake is a major earthquake.

The Haitian earthquake of 2010 was about a 7 on the Richter scale.
