"Black lives matters" endorses looting.
Downtown Chicago was otherwise quiet after authorities cut off access, with drawbridges leading into the city pulled up and freeway exits blocked after riots sparked by a false rumor of a child shot by police.
At least 13 police officers were injured as the violence claimed an estimated $65 million in property damage.
Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, called the looting 'reparations'.
'I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,' Atkins said.

This is nothing against the underlying "cause", but trying to justify looting and property damage (which have no connection to the underlying cause the group claims to support) seems to be more likely to push people away from supporting the cause through this association\"justification" for these actions.
Looking at this objectively, peaceful protests where those agitating for violence\property destruction are isolated (or better yet, handed over to police as "peace offerings"\shows of goodwill) would seem to do a lot more to encourage people to be supportive of a cause than enabling illegal activity would be.

I checked the official black lives matter website to see what they had to say about it. So far nothing about what Atkins said. What I found interesting though, was on the Chicago chapter page. The most recent news update talked down about Chicago police shooting another black person, more police beating people, and the mayor ignoring that and focusing on looters. I don't know what's going on in Chicago, but it seems to go a bit deeper than I know about, for sure.
I'm not saying looting is a great idea, but I'm one of those anti corporate people, so I have a bias here and yeah, I own that. I understand why people loot places and destroy property. I've been hungry before and giant, shiny, fancy stores that sell items that cost more than I'll make in a month is like a big middle finger when you know you're going to run out of food before the month is over. It sucks. It's also reality for a lot of people.
I guess I'm saying all this to say, will looting hurt their cause? It depends on who you are and what your life experience has been. Obviously, it will seem counterproductive and hurtful to the cause by some, to others like me it will be irrelevant, to others it might seem like a victory.
Mostly though, I'm curious what the official BLM organization will have to say about over the next few days, and not just one woman who organizes protests for them through the Chicago chapter. Will they say nope, that was wrong, or say nothing? Who knows. Not me.
The Daily Mail is NOT the world's most reliable news source. This Article in the Chicago Sun-Times tells the real story from an on-the-scene perspective:
"I don't care if somebody decides to loot a Gucci, or a Macy's, or a Nike, because that makes sure that that person eats, that makes sure that that person has clothes, that makes sure that that person can make some kind of money because this city obviously doesn’t care about them," Atkins said.
The subject line of this thread is false.

The subject line of this thread is false.
How is it false, when based on the source article:
As stated, this was an organiser (thereby indicating a level of authority within the group), and so indicates the group endorsed these statements (the fact that they haven't made any denials would support this).
As to your complaints about the source: How about:
“That is reparations,” Ariel Atkins, an organizer, told NBC Chicago. “Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance.”
Source: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/aug/11/ariel-atkins-blm-chicago-organizer-says-looting-is/
And maybe the original source (as mentioned in above article):
The rally was held at the South Loop police station where organizers say those individuals are currently being held in custody.
“I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, said.

So, we have an official in the organisation endorsing looting, and nothing from any other part of the organisation stating that they disagree, thereby implicitly endorsing the statements made.
Additionally, I have seen nothing to support your assertion that "Mr. Atkins' only affiliation with the BLM movement is his African ancestry."... Evidence please.
Congratulations ... since you have finally provided valid proof of one of your claims, you win the Internet.
Now, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to personally challenge the leaders of BLM and get them to fix their broken movement, or are you going to simply berate anyone who supports equal rights by using this new information to "prove" that some people allegedly don't deserve to even have equal rights?

I look at it more like defending myself from an attack on my integrity through the implication that I was lying with the selection of subject line:
The fact that this statement came from a member who has been known to request "evidence please" in order to present the appearance of a "seeker of truth" furthered the need to defend my integrity.
The part I find strange is that there was no evidence supplied to support this assertion (even following a request for it) other than an unsubstantiated claim:
As this was refuted in both the source article for the topic, and in subsequent verification, it would appear hypocritical to have made such a claim without evidence, while at the same time asking others to supply evidence for claims they make...even more so to claim that I had "finally" provided valid proof, when that proof was presented from the start.
As to the question "What am I going to do about it?"...I prefer to judge an organisation of which I am not a member (being that it is based in a country on the other side of the world) on their words and actions: it is up to the organisation and its members to decide whether they wish to endorse or distance themselves from the behaviour and words of one of their organisers. Similarly, there is nothing to prevent a person from supporting certain aims of an organisation, while decrying their actions\words which are unconnected from these aims, a fact which seems to have been ignored in the final papargaraph of what I assume was meant to be a sarcastic attempt at deflection to a request for evidence to substantiate an earlier claim which had been shown to be false.
Well Trump endorsed what amounts to a coup & / or rigged election so I don't really see how you have a case here. Also, people stealing something is a totally unrelated issue to people's rights being denied. You're one to talk, you don't appear to live here.
Don't believe everything you read.

Attacking BLM leaders and their activists is a means of attacking the underlying message. Same as J. Edgar Hoover had attacked MLK and other civil rights leaders in order to bring down the racial equality movement. Don't let yourself be hoodwinked by the racist right.

You're saying the taxes I paid for not destroying my car driving over potholes were stolen?
So you can do a better job of putting money to use than the entire government?
I don't enjoy paying taxes that any kind of government will use to kill people with, but the right does that & the left does that in this country. You probably also really enjoy living with roads built by tax funding. The alternative is dying in a car crash.

the below might be irrelevant (unsure) hence spoiler thing to save anyone from seeing it while skimming
taxes would contribute to positive things in that country.. instead people have to contend with reading books at bookstores like it is a library and 'purchasing' them with the intent of returning after they're done (with the salespeople's understanding) as one could with a library,
but what about the people who cant afford to do that in the 1st place? plus libraries run all kinds of educational programs for kids, and adults.
would rather live in a country one has access to positive things like public libraries
