Certainly not a good look when an NBC affiliated news agency hire what is reported to have been an unlicenced person as "security", who then goes on to shoot one of the protesters... Particularly when this person appears to have had an affinity for one of the side involved:

https://heavy.com/news/matthew-robert-dolloff/I have heard there is footage of this "security guard" having approached the person he shot and tried to remove the can of mace (?) he had, was slapped, which led to him shooting the protester. Given there appears to have been no indication of a threat to the security guard's life (or of major harm occurring to him), I can't see "self defence" being relevent\applicable, although no doubt some will try to bring it up, even were the guard not to have (as far as I am aware) been the instigator.
