Country singer-songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker just died of throat cancer.

His most famous song was penned after he spent a night in the drunk tank in New Orleans with a local street performer. The song covered by many other artists. Many doing great versions of the great original. Wrote many other country classics. But he belongs in musical pantheon just for this song alone.

and many more.

He wrote songs and influenced so many more popular performers.
