When officers arrived, they looked into the van's windows and saw an array of items: an AR-15 rifle, the box for a handgun, a canister of explosive material, and a box of ammunition, according to a court document. Police say they towed and searched the van, finding more than $500,000 in cash, drawings of swastikas and planes crashing into buildings, books on survival and bomb-making, and a half-dozen firearms.
Later that day, Alexander Hillel Treisman, 19, reportedly walked into the bank and asked after the towed van – and was promptly arrested.
Now the man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on child pornography charges. And federal agents presented evidence indicating Treisman had a fascination with mass shootings and terrorist attacks — and had plotted to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
According to government testimony, between March and May of this year, Treisman searched online for Biden's home address and looked up state gun laws, rifle parts and night vision goggles. In April, he is said to have posted a meme online with the caption "should I kill joe biden?"
After his arrest, Treisman was interviewed by Kannapolis police and investigators from the Joint Terrorism Task Forces. He allegedly told them that he has an interest in terrorist incidents and mass shootings and that he had lost friends over jokes he had made about mass shootings and the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
Investigators found video on Treisman's cell phone that apparently was taken while driving by Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas — the site of a deadly 2017 mass shooting — as a male voice is heard saying, "There it is. That's it. That's the one, that's where they did it. Allah Akbar! Ah hah, nice." Another video on the phone, taken at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, includes a male voice suggesting it would be "awesome" to hijack a plane and fly it into a building.
The evidence also suggests Treisman may have taken steps to disguise his identity and flee the country.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Joe L. Webster wrote that the evidence had established "that no combination of available release conditions would reasonably assure the safety of the community, and that a preponderance of evidence establishes that no conditions would ensure Defendant's presence in court."

Documents and newspaper articles tell a story of Treisman having a troubled childhood. He was born in 2000 to Kimberly and Eric Treisman, his father’s second marriage, and his middle name is that of a renowned Talmudic sage. He was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum.
Nearly nine years after Alexander was born, Treisman’s father had a heart attack and died. His death came just days after finalizing his divorce from Treisman’s mother and a difficult custody battle, according to an obituary written by local journalist Stephen Fox. Fox confirmed those details in a phone call Friday with JTA.
Treisman’s father was a well known lawyer and activist in Santa Fe on behalf of Tibetan and Native American rights. According to obituaries, including one distributed to fellow members of his graduating class at Dartmouth College, Treisman helped arrange a meeting between the Dalai Lama and George H.W. Bush, the first of its kind, which led to an agreement to bring Tibetan immigrants into the United States. In 1996, Treisman ran unsuccessfully for the Senate in New Mexico.
About five years after Eric Treisman’s death, Alexander’s mother moved with her two sons to the Chicago area, according to a Facebook post she wrote at the time. She said she was searching for a school that would be a good fit for Alexander, her then-14-year-old son whom she described as having high-functioning autism. She was worried that, absent the right environment, he might not have the tools to thrive in life.
“Otherwise Alex will be a 8th grade dropout,” she wrote. “Eric would not ever want this to occur. He is very intelligent but doesnt function in a normal school setting.”

I don't care if he had autism, I have autism and I am not trying to assassinate anyone.
Does not seem to be ideological but Autistic Special Interest, more Adam Lanza then Boogaloo Bois.

What I fear is that NTs will see this guy as another reason to continue stereotyping people on the spectrum. NT people associate people on the spectrum with strong acts of violence and will continue to make assumptions that the next person on the spectrum may give in to an itch to become a murderer.
Spectrum or NT, I am glad this guy got caught he carried out his plan.

Exactly.
Assassinations might be a popular component of movies, novels, and games, and even occasionally engaged in by various national powers, but among us real people who try to live real everyday life at least halfway morally, they are frowned upon with great frowning. Not cool mate. Not cool.

Ding ding ding! WINNER!!
Would it surprise me if evidence turns up that he is "alt-right"? No.
Right now that evidence is either not there or not public. What is there suggests a "special interest" in mass shootings, terrorism, etc.
It is an inconvenient truth that some autistics develop a special interest in evil things and a small percentage of them act on them giving us all an unfair stigma. That I and the vast majority of autistic people don't assassinate people or shoot up schools does not change the fact it is what it is.
If it turns out Triesman is not an alt-right ideologue that does not change the fact there is an alt-right terrorism problem.
