He had rather a unique writing style which some members remarked on. I'm sure he had the potential to be a great writer if he'd decided to and could find a suitable mentor.

Maybe this tribute thread could be “stickied”?

Walter was a member since about 2006, I believe.

Walter wrote like Charles Bukowski. He certainly lived like him.

Walter was certainly a unique person. I wish he had had lived in better conditions to express himself.

he expressed frustration that he couldn't grasp the HTML/BBC code of this site which is why he posted as he did.

you are young and with it sufficient to avoid that fate. being homeless is pretty unpleasant but at least for young people it is endurable, not so much when one ages with no improvement in living situation. one hardens to it and it becomes yet harder each year that passes, for one to climb up out of it. I am thankful that an external force pulled me out of that situation before long.

He was also on Autism Forums. He tried his best to reach out in a number of ways.

Thank you again to Blabby for remaining his lifeline until the end.

I'll miss him very much, and wish him Godspeed.

I believe what he'd want most is for people to be mindful and inclusive of people with mental illness including depression, trauma, grief, poverty, homelessness, and anxiety. It only takes a moment to care.

That should be his legacy here.

Another one of the neuro-diverse and disabled cast off by our society. When will we get our day of justice? When will we get our March on DC?Our Stonewall?
When will our lives matter?
At least he mattered to us.

You, Miss Reptile, are also numbered among our most caring members here and I'm so glad you're here with us. It can be so easy to get caught up in the daily coffee grounds and forget to care enough. Even helping just one person a day to smile is an effort rewarded.

Society needs restructuring in such a way that penniless castaways feel included in the Big Wheel of fortune.
