Trump business allies are paying big bucks to Trump in order get a pardon from criminal prosecution.
the 74-year-old’s allies have collected huge amounts of money for access to the outgoing President from those seeking pardons before he leaves office, a bombshell new report by The New York Times has detailed.
https://www.news.com.au/world/north-ame ... 03a9002837
According to the Times, one former federal prosecutor, Brett Tolman, has collected “tens of thousands dollars, and possibly more, in recent weeks to lobby the White House for clemency” from three separate people.

John M. Dowd, Mr Trump’s former personal lawyer, has claimed his close relationship to the President could secure pardons, marketing himself to convicted felons and accepting tens of thousand dollars from them, giving advice to “potential clients to leverage Mr Trump’s grievances about the justice system”.

And what would this story be without former New York mayor – now Mr Trump’s personal lawyer – Rudy Giuliani, an
associate of who told ex-CIA officer John Kiriakou, who was jailed in 2012 for leaking the identity of an operative involved in torture, a presidential pardon was “going to cost $2 million”.

Would he take an IOU?

If he gives me a blanket pardon for crimes I havent been charged with yet, I will just pay him back the two million out of the haul from the banks I plan to rob.

Shocking.. Not.

But illegal?

USA has legalized bribery of government officials called “lobbying,” and “campaign contributions.”

Strangely, this section was missed in the quote, which may help answer your question:
Quote:
And while it’s not illegal to do so, “this kind of off-books influence peddling, special-privilege system denies consideration to the hundreds of ordinary people who have obediently lined up as required by Justice Department rules”, Margaret Love, who was the United States pardon lawyer at the Department of Justice for seven years, told the paper.

“(It’s) a basic violation of the longstanding effort to make this process at least look fair,” she said.

So, not illegal, and from her wording, the process has never been "fair", either.

Of course, whether the money actually does anything to help those paying it is another question entirely...

Let's see if team Trump takes the money - - then doesn't deliver on the pardons.

There's the issue of the millions of donations from MAGA fools. He received these donations to fight the "stolen election" but the money is sitting in his personal bank account. Somebody better watch before it vanishes.

Indeed
1. They donate their money to him
2. They lose their jobs after storming the capitol bld
3. They get arrested
4. Trump is disappointed they are low class and wants nothing to do with them
5. He will use the several hundred million he stole to install a new golden toilet in Mar Lago

Those who do care may want to get a rope.

the few woke ones who do get that rope would almost immediately be tackled by all the wannabe tools who don't want you to take away the hope that they too will be rich one day if only they brownnose hard enough.

Saved, printed, and posted over my desk at work.  If anyone objects, they can tell it to Trump!
