A topic title's length is limited to the number of characters allowed by the forum software.

A very frustrating part of the software indeed. A few years ago a few of us complained and the consensus was overwhelmingly against us. The comments were roughly along the lines of It's fine as-is deal with it and if you can't that is your problem. And so it is.
