Oh yes there is, you can fight facism...yes right now and today, because facism is running rampant and we need you to stamp it out! How is that not a cause to fight for, the fight against fascism...what is wrong with americans these days. Back in 1945 people were signing up to fight the nazis.....right? Like there was no greater honor than going to fight the japs....like err there were the whole nazis and stuff but the U.S defeated teh japs then came in after all the european people had fought nazis for years to claim the victory....and then sad sacks here like to talk of how america came in and saved everyone. No you f*****g idiots britishh and european soldiers fought the nazis off and you guys just came in late for all the prizes. The U.S didn't stop the holocaust by their own hand, hell if the holocaust had remaind profitiable for all we know the U.S would have sided with that.
Also it was thanks to the french resistance that that D-Day battle did not go as badly as it should have for the allies. LIke it was a freaking stupid move send a bunch of guys that were drafted into forced military service to do the impossible task of storming a freaking cliff with nazis on the high ground to constantly shoot at you from above and your job is to run through that. I heard some guys drowned before reaching the beach....welll f***k maybe they drowned by choice to not get shot into a freaking bologna on the beach. But for sure the only reason the crazy ass allied forces won that was because the french resistance had sabotaged trains bringing supplies to the nazis on top of the hill. If it wasn't for them the nazis would have been more well equipped to defeat the d-day fighters.
But no one ever wants to talk about how the french resistance may have been the difference between that, who knows what would have happened if they hadn't sabotaged those trains.

If I may add something Sweetleaf, the French Resistance was supplied via air drops from the Special Operations Executive in England, carried out by the specially trained "Special Duties" squadrons of RAF Bomber Command.
One of my great-uncles commanded such a squadron for over a year (January 1944-March 1945). He completed two tours of operations while undertaking supply drops across the length and breadth of France.
The US played a big role in World War 2 from about 1940. Especially with "Lend-Lease" before December 8, 1941 (they did not actually "enter the war" until that date).
They were not "saviors"---but they were a very significant ally in Europe.
They also implemented the Marshall Plan after the war. Yes, there was "propaganda" and all that. But the US did play a significant role in getting Europe back up on its feet after the war.
Absolutely right. We did not suffer at all from military activity during World War 2 on our own soil. We had rationing and other deprivations----but that's it.

The russians did most of the heavy lifting.

The D-Day Landings had many mishaps, that can't be denied. However, they were not casually throwing lives away in those attacks. The entire West coast of Europe was fortified, part of Hitler's "Atlantic Wall." There was no safe place to open a front in Western Europe. Extensive operations by British intelligence tricked the nazis into thinking the landings would come at the Pas de Calais instead of Normandy, so that enemy forces would be diverted. Bombing runs and naval bombardment attempted to soften the defenses, paratroopers were sent to disrupt german forces behind their lines, French resistance forces also contributed to this. Many of the landings went off quite smoothly, the Americans at Omaha got it the worse, and so that's the image of D-Day in our minds. But for such a massive operation, blunders were inevitable and it actually went really well.
But no, America definitely didn't save the world from the nazis, it was a world war, and the Red Army did most of the heavy fighting. (Not trying to glamorize Stalin's awful regime)

Agreed and agreed.

It would seem the young people drawn into the persuasive pull of right wing philosophy are either ignorant of history or choose to ignore it.

You talking about people being ignorant about modern history is 'interesting'.
And young people need to research the history of communism.
It will make their hair stand on end! EEP!

Ummm you have an odd obsession with communism which is somewhat out of date. All western countries are neo-capitalist. Even worker based parties which are mislabelled socialist are actually free-market and support big business. Unions who are the target of conservative parties are often in cahoots with business owners.
Claiming communism is something we need to be worried about in 2021 is like saying cannibalism might make a comeback, Even communist China has embraced capitalism. What is making a comeback is authoritarianism of the right wing flavor and there is valid concern over that. Try and avoid flipping the narrative because Andrew Bolt, Peta Credlin or 3AW told you.

As we all know, America is moving more and more to the political left and part of the reason, based on my sources, is because the young haven't been educated about the atrocities of the communist past.
Take it up with my sources, not me.

Those countries that had experienced the horror of communism lacked any democratic political or social tradition, and so I seriously have my doubts that we'd ever live under some sort of Pol Pot regime in any western country.
Young people today are veering left because they've come to realize that a rising tide doesn't raise all boats, that too many people have been allowed to sink and drown while the few get rich off of it, and genuinely feel that capitalism is a colossal con game and that they've been getting scammed.

The ploy of labelling social justice movements as socialists/communists has it's roots in women's movements and civil rights movements in the 1930s. Legitimate civil rights movements like the NCCAP and MLK's civil rights movement were labelled communist by the American media. It's an old trick.
What's amusing is those trying to cancel BLM cynically quote MLK's "I have a dream speech" in order to beat them like a stick.
