I read the article. It stated that a person is most at risk for these symptoms if he/she actually drinks the product. I don't sense that they believe that many people will go blind if they just rub it around their hands, though they believe there is a risk (probably slight) of some symptoms occurring.
This particular product, under an abundance of caution, has been recalled.
Methanol can make you go blind, that's why using it as an adulterant in booze used to be punished really severely.
Ethanol ironically is an anti-dote to methanol so just have a few drinks every time you sanitize your hands and you'll feel great.
