Funny that you posted this because I just recently saw this video about a medeaval African emperor who may have been "the richest man who ever lived". Richer than any White tycoon of either the "Guilded Age" of the late 19th Century , or of today.
The Fourteenth Century emperor of Mali Munsu Musa. Ruled a swath of subsaharan Africa while Europe only just emerging from the Dark Ages. He managed to corner the global market on gold and on salt, and got astronomically rich.
Whats odd is how Mansu Musa got put on the the throne in the first place. He was meant to be a temporary regent running the state while the main emperor took time off to ... leave the country on a certain hare brained project! A project that ruler never returned from- so the regent became permanent ruler who took the realm to even greater heights. Sound familiar?
The original emperor, Abukari Keita, got it into his head to cross the Atlantic ocean...just to see what was on the other side of the ocean (kind of a Black version of Columbus before Columbus- or of Bezos exploring space). He appointed Musa as his temporary CEO while he ...took off with a fleet of ships, for the unknown, and...was never seen or heard from again! Since the original chairman of the board never returned from this crazy project the regent became the permanent boss.
Cant help but think that Bezos might be Abukari Keita, and that he may never return from Mars, and that Jass will be Mansu Musa and will take Bezos creation to greater heights as the now permenent ceo of the Earth bound company Bezos founded.
