US company Bestbuy are facing boycotts from republicans following the company offering employee counselling for the Kyle Rittenhouse decision.

Best Buy's Chief Inclusion, Diversity & Talent Officer Mark Irvin, who encouraged those affected to 'take advantage of our mental health services, including the Life Solutions counselling services.'

However, people took social media to slam the companies and their woke response to the ruling, with some threatening to boycott their stores and cancel orders.

'@BestBuy is actually offering counseling to employees for the jury getting the verdict in the Rittenhouse trial correct. They just lost a long standing customer in me,' one user wrote on Twitter.

Another user on Twitter said they would be cancelling orders that had made with Best Buy, and claimed more would do the same.

'@BestBuy just found out about ur memo on the Rittenhouse verdict to ur employees, in response I cancelled the $2500 Macbook on order n the appt to have stereo work done on my truck $1100 n there's more like me [sic],' the person wrote.

'I will never, ever buy anything from Best Buy again. They offered counseling services to employees after Rittenhouse verdict... WTF?' another exasperated user wrote.

Levi Jeans chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer, Elizabeth Morrison, sent a letter to staff.

'With the news that Kyle Rittenhouse was not convicted in the shooting of three individuals – two of whom lost their lives – during racial justice protests last year, this is a difficult day for many,' the letter said.

Morrison offered 24-hour mental health care for those suffering the 'pain and trauma of race, identity and belief-based tragedies.'

Republicans took aim at Levi's, one user writing: 'The race for most woke company marches on and I can no longer buy 501s, which I have worn for 40+ years. These idiots destroy everything.'

This is funny. Aside from the whole "we hate cancel culture, but lets have a boycott!" nonsense, lets take a look at some numbers.

In Q3 of this year, Best Buy brand did 10 billion dollars in sales on the consumer side. 10 Billion dollars, in 3 months.

One percent of that is 100 million dollars. Divided by the $3600 "loss" incurred by Mr. Mac Truck deciding not to buy those items, is 27,778 (rounded). So it would take appx 28,000 people to not make purchases, of $3600 or more, to hurt their consumer profitability by more than 1%. And they did another 11 Billion on their enterprise side, so that 1% is actually less than 0.5% compared to their total quarterly revenue.

"AND THERE"S MORE LIKE ME!" Like what, a few dozen? A few hundred? Even a few thousand ain't gonna cut it.

Best Buy won't even notice.

Yes I also suspect a few petulant MAGA republicans aren't going to make a dent to the bottom line in either company.

I have been saying for some time on this forum that conservatives engage in cancel culture all the time (look at the current law suites against the media from MAGAs).

The counselling service they object to so vociferously is mean't to help with mental health. Weaponising mental health is a new low the MAGAs are sinking to. Seems we haven't reached the bottom of the barrel yet with these clowns,

My friends down at the local Best Buy laughed at the idea of a GOP boycott of their stores.

Most had not even heard of the boycott in the first place.

The thing about mental health is that it shouldn’t matter if what caused the upset is valid to others or not. These stores have a vested interested in their employees being able to work undistracted. If they find their employees can’t do that, they will offer counseling to right the ship. It isn’t endorsing any position other than “I want my employees happy and back at work.” Do the Republicans pushing a boycott think that laughing at people upset at the verdict or telling them have no right to be upset will magically make their upset go away? Emotions don’t have to be based in fact to be real and carry real life consequences. Failing to accept that is just playing bully.

Anything the MAGA Republicans can do to keep the rest of us from asserting our freedoms and getting a little help along the way is fair game for them as far as they are concerned.

Conservatism has long treated anything related to mental health as little more than people being weak or spoiled, or not trying hard enough. In the past they simply took a more passive approach, ignoring them and pretending they're not there. Now that there's too many to ignore or keep hidden away, too many with voices and outlets, they have to move to a more active approach. One of the "freedoms" they seem to cherish most is their "freedom" to not have to give a toss about anything unless it affects them.

Too many people be like Yzma , from Emperor's New Groove.

"It's really none of my concern if you have any, what was it?"

Food.

"Ha! You should have thought of that before you became peasants!"

Yes this was perfectly exemplified by Marie Antoinette's famous quote of the starving of Paris was to
"let them eat cake". This was actually drawn upon in Season 4 of Game of Thrones when uneaten food from a royal feast was to be given to the poor of King's Landing, Cersei Lannister ordered the Meister to disobey the order and give the food to royal kennels instead.

The lack of compassion for the poor is as old as when the first walled cities were built thousands of years ago when those privileged enough to live within the walls did not care if people outside of the walls faced pillaging or famine. Peasants were simply fodder for wars and factories for goods and services and could be discarded at the pleasure of the ruling class. This two tier class system (which still exists in Great Britain).

America has an establishment who have always treated the poor in America with disdain. Suffering is a sign that god has forsaken you because according to christian conservatives jesus doens't like the poor and the underprivileged.
