In an act of pure MAGA theatre, Florida republican Joe Gruters has introduced a bill making the National anthem mandatory before all Florida Pro-games

https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/pro ... s/2664068/

The bill was laughed in senate with Victor Torres (a democrat senator) “Who doesn’t play the national anthem now?” to which Gruter's replied “It’s only right that they continue to play the national anthem and support the freedom that we love here in Florida,”

It wouldn't surprise me if it got decided in the near future that the current US national anthem was somehow racist.

It's nice to be corroborated.

It also explains why someone would want such a law established.

I still unironically say we should change it to "America, F*ck Yeah!" from Team America, it sure would make sporting events more lively.

It certainly explains why Gruters wants the law established

Hmmm doesn't“ forcing people to sing the national anthem breach civil liberties and your "inalienable" rights to freedom of choice and freedom of speech”??

Isn't that a constitutional right Col Kap and others have?

It's their patriotic duty to sing it, even if they have to be forced at gunpoint. Actually the bill is just to insure the national anthem continues to be played instead of something else in its place. From what I've seen most people in the stadium don't karaoke it. The wokes only reason to oppose the bill would be that it thwarts their quest to completely tear down and reshape everything.

What next, enforced prayer in publicly-funded schools?

It's their patriotic duty to sing it, even if they have to be forced at gunpoint . . .
So your 2nd Amendment rights trump their 1st Amendment rights?

Do you know what the Latin word for facetious is?

It has already been eliminated.  School prayer in the United States if organized by the school is largely banned from public elementary, middle and high schools by a series of Supreme Court decisions since 1962.  Students may pray privately, and join religious clubs in after-school hours.  Public schools are those operated by government agencies, such as local school districts.  They are banned from conducting religious observances such as prayer.  Private and parochial schools are not covered by these rulings, nor are colleges and universities.  Elementary and secondary schools are covered because students are required to attend, and are considered more at risk from official pressure than are older students and adults.  The Constitutional basis for this prohibition is the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which requires that...

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

Deal with it.

Somehow I missed the word "prayer" and just saw "publicly funded schools".

Do you think the national anthem should be done away with? And if so why?

I suppose you're an autistic who takes what's said 100% literally and therefore can't tell when someone is being sarcastic or facetious and doesn't get what a rhetorical question is.
