I expect we'll be hearing a lot about this one soon, it looks pretty bad.

Here's the bodycam in both slow motion and regular speeds:

It's not graphic, but you do see a man get shot.

Here's a still of the gun in the man's hand as he's awakened, from the 0:31 mark:

I only saw it after it was pointed out to me along with the time stamp, everything happened so quickly.

This was a no-knock warrant, and the man who was killed is being reported as not the actual subject of the warrant, and to have been in legal possession of the pistol.

It's too early to make draw any final conclusions, but this looks a lot like Breonna Taylor, a no-knock raid encounters a legal gun owner and the wrong person ends up dead. I don't think you can even make this a race thing as the guy is completely covered in a blanket when he's shot, this is an over-aggressive police issue all the way through, and a textbook example of why no-knock raids should be illegal.

Funny that those who give us the best arguments for "defunding the police" are the police themselves.
And no, I'm not for disbanding police forces, but they certainly need major reform.
And for another observation, though admittedly not connected to the video: the code of silence among cops is hardly any different from the "snitches get stitches" talk in inner cities.

Some of my friends had a no- knock warrant served over weed.Luckily no one was injured but the kids are still traumatized by people with drawn guns busting into the house in the middle of the night.
It’s a tragedy waiting to happen, they should be illegal.
Here it’s “snitches wind up in ditches.”

Car Caravan Rolls Through Downtown Minneapolis In Protest Of Amir Locke Killing

Quote:
A car caravan protesting the police killing of Amir Locke blocked traffic briefly Friday night in downtown Minneapolis.

The caravan stopped in front of the Bolero Flats building, located at 11th Street and Marquette Avenue. Locke, a Black man, was fatally shot there Wednesday morning by Minneapolis police officer Mark Hanneman, who was part of a no-knock raid on the apartment.

The protesters called for Hanneman to be fired, arrested and charged with murder. Earlier Friday, Locke’s family made the same demands at Minneapolis City Hall.

She said that Interim Police Chief Amelia Huffman and Mayor Jacob Frey need to resign for how they’ve responded to the shooting so far. They’re “sugar-coating” what happened,” she said.

“You cry at a funeral and then don’t do anything for us,” Armborst said. “It’s time for you to go, too.”

In 2020, the mayor and the former police chief updated the department’s no-knock warrant policy, specifying that officers need to announce themselves as police prior to cross the threshold. In the body-camera footage released in the Locke shooting, it appears that officers announced themselves as they are crossing the threshold, less than 10 seconds before Locke was mortally wounded.

On Friday afternoon, Frey issued a moratorium on no-knock warrants in Minneapolis, unless under an extreme circumstance. Pree-Stinson believes the mayor needs to go further.

“We should have a moratorium on the use of deadly force,” she said. “We should call an emergency meeting to amend our budget.”

Earlier in the day, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced that his office would help review the case. Ellison previously led teams which successfully prosecuted Derek Chauvin and Kim Potter, police officers convicted of killing George Floyd and Daunte Wright respectively.

Another protest is planned for Saturday afternoon at the Hennepin County Government Center.

That right there is the "this is why we can't have nice things" element, as they "technically" announced themselves by all shouting at the same time as they burst through the door, which is clearly within the letter but in violation of the spirit of the knock and announce policy. I know that if I were dead asleep and a group of guys kicked my door in, I wouldn't particularly care what they were yelling, I'm lighting them up first and sorting out who they were afterwards and what I sleep next to doesn't care if you are wearing armor. Everyone involved in this should be looking at some kind of charge up to and including the judge who signed the warrant, but that's never going to happen.

Agreed.
