So when Hillary was the frontrunner for president, her political opponents were exploiting her email situation to her disadvantage. But these same opponents aren't exploiting the document issues of an ex-president who's not currently the frontrunner against their party.

Trump KNEW not to make the same mistake that Nixon made:

Nixon offered to give transcripts to the Senate Watergate Committee---of the tapes implicating him in the Watergate scandal-----rather than give them the tapes themselves.

The practice is called a "Red Herring", from an old practice of laying fish along one's trail to throw bloodhounds of one's scent.
