Saudi hijab topic brings memory of when Dad was in US Navy in 1980s working with Saudi Navy Expansion Program (SNEP-FIT) and the wives of the Saudi crew and officers who lived in VA Beach would be seen wearing hijab while driving around in their Caprice Classics.

Well ...

It looked like they were wearing hijab ...

When they parked and got out you could see it was only enough hijab to look like hijab through the car windows, and their actual attire was designer jeans et cetera.

According to one Saudi prince, perhaps . . . and maybe with the tacit approval of a few moderate imams . . . but expect some ordinary traditionalist male citizens to take the Sharia law into their own hands and slice the throats of any women they catch without a hijab in public.

This prince gives with one hand, but takes with the other. So to speak.

Grants women the right to drive cars, and now is pushing to ease up on the dress codes for women.

But he executes dozens, and murders journalists with hacksaws.

The reforms for women's right seem to be part of making his country more "tourist friendly". So it all could be just part of his economic ambitions. Though you have to grant that he has vision. Someday they will run out of oil so he is thinking ahead to promote tourism. Maybe he is a classy kinda ...thug!

One law for the common folk and one for the prince and his cronies.
